Abstract

The field of speech pathology has experienced significant transformation over the past decade, evolving from traditional in-person therapy to incorporating telepractice and, more recently, AI-driven tools. This article explores the trajectory of these advancements, examining how technological innovations have reshaped the delivery of speech therapy services. Telepractice has expanded access to care, particularly in underserved areas, while AI-driven tools enhance diagnostic accuracy and treatment personalization. The integration of machine learning algorithms enables speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to analyze patient data more effectively, tailor interventions, and monitor progress in real-time. However, challenges such as data privacy concerns, the need for robust training, and the importance of maintaining the human element in therapy remain pertinent. By highlighting the benefits and limitations of these technological advancements, this paper underscores the need for a balanced approach in integrating telepractice and AI tools into contemporary speech pathology practice.
